Shell Shok – Character Design
Here is the first rough design of the tortoise. I did a few versions until I came up with this one that I like. I tried to make it as simple as possible. The more simple the design, the easier it will be to animate! The shell is very simple with only a few shapes as the details. Also decided to add a bit of simple skin detail to the legs. Hopefully this will be easy to animate.
Here I’ve inked and coloured the previous rough sketch. Just some simple flat bright and earthy colours, with some basic shading and lighting effects. I thought I might try out coloured outlines for the character. I like the look of coloured outlines, however, in the final animation I may just use black outlines. Hopefully, if I have time, I may add the coloured outlines.
